Edna Zakaski Obituary
Edna Ella Carder Zakaski was a beautiful, sweetheart of an angel, who scampered across our West Virginia world for 96 years, spreading Heaven on Earth to her family and friends. On November 20th, she was called back to Heaven. Although our hearts are broken to lose her, there are no words to express the delightful and precious impact that Edna left upon all of us.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Harding Carder and Ella Belle Rice Carder, brothers, Herman, Howard, Clifford and George Carder and sister, Senna Carder Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Roman (Romie) Zakaski. She and Romie worked together to build a well-known Charleston appliance business which was named Romie's Appliance Repair.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Sandra Zakaski Cook, wife of Archie Cook of Charleston and her son, Stephen Zakaski of Dunbar. Furthermore, she is survived by two grandchildren, Debbie Cook Rogers of Hurricane and Brian Cook of Palm Beach, FL. She is survived by four great-grand children. Visitation services for Edna will be held at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville on Tuesday, November 25th at 11:00am and funeral rites will begin at noon.
Interment will follow across from Long and Fisher at the Floral Hills Mausoleum. For years, Edna bravely fought the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease. Her family will never forget each of you who courageously helped her fight this fierce battle. In closing, we remind all of you who knew and loved Edna, that whenever you feel down and out to simply close your eyes and picture that adorable, ornery smile that Edna always wore.
A happy feeling is guaranteed. Thanks, everybody who was so kind to our Edna! All of us will miss her.
