He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Shaffer and Gladys Shaffer; his wife Pat Shaffer; his daughter Carrie Haynes; his son-in-law Davie Haynes; and his great grandchild Kaylee Dawn Matlock.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Bostic (Tanya) of Sissonville, Donald "Bub" Shaffer Jr. (Tania) of Sissonville and Regina Burdette (Auty) of Sissonville. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
