He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Bernard and Bessie Irene Hissom; and his siblings, Lewis (Margaret), George "Corky" (Lois), Jim (Vivian), Ronald (Eleanor), Charles (Francis), Robert, Brenda, Julia Crowder (Frank), Carolyn Sue Fitzwater (Calvin) and Larry.
He is survived by: his wife Anna Mae Hissom (Atkisson); his sons, Dr. Byron Rolf Hissom Jr. (Judy) and John Paul Hissom (Patti); his grandchildren, Nathaniel (Sara), Geoffrey, Andrew (Lori), Elizabeth, Josef, Matthew and Emily; and his great grandchildren, Lincoln and Brooklyn.
