He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard K. Burwell and Mary Weikle Burwell; his wife Elizabeth May Hughes Burwell; his son Van Vanstavern; and his sister June McFall.
He is survived by: his children, Richard "Rick" Burwell (Brenda) of Sinks Grove, WV and Beverly Hunter (Jim) of Sinks Grove, WV; and his grandchildren, Kristina Burwell, Jessica Madara (Jonathan), Joseph Hunter (Tenli), Sean Burwell (Darami), Madison Burwell, Brittany Nichols (Logan), Biancha Barfield and Michael Sharp. He is also survived by great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family suggests memorial donations be made in Banny's honor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
