He was predeceased by: his son Kenneth Wayne Johnston; his parents, Charles E. Johnston and Carrie Jane Clemons Johnston; and his siblings, Beulah Jones, June Caldwell and Homer.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Meadows Johnston of Bozoo, WV.; his son James Arlie Johnston (Charmaine); his daughter-in-law Telia Holt Johnston; and his brother Earnest (Bonnie).
