We are sad to announce that on March 27, 2022 we had to say goodbye to Helen E. Jones of Shinnston, West Virginia, born in Weston, West Virginia. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She is survived by: her children, Karla Smith (Michael) of Bristol, Diana Jones of Pittsburgh and Evan Jones (Cheryl Bradley) of Clarksburg; her sister Margaret Shrewsbury (W. Va) of Augusta; her daughter-in-law Susan Jones of Shinnston; her grandchildren, Adam Jones, Erin Hall (Keegan) of Shinnston, Benjamin Smith (Carrie) of Bristol and Sarah Smith of Roanoke; and her great grandchildren, Michael, Mason Smith of Bristol and Henry Hall of Shinnston.

Helen requested that in place of flowers memorial donations be made to either Fort New Salem ℅ Kevin Fluharty at 158 E. Main St., Salem, WV 26426, The Mustard Seed at P.O. Box 2709, Clarksburg, WV 26301, or the Harrison County Humane Society at P.O. Box 4397, Clarksburg, WV 26302.

“I'm saddened to learn of Helen's passing. As Director of Social Studies for the WVa Dept of Ed in 1982 I depended on her as President of the WVa Council for Social Studies . She was my colleague and friend for 40 years She was a pillar of strength in advocating for high quality instruction and one of the kindest, brightest and most energetic people I ever met Even after I returned to Colorado we kept in touch and visited when I came to Pittsburgh I will miss her more than words can say.”
