He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ellis and Jean Ellis; and his sister-in-law Norma Ellis. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Sue Hardesty Ellis; his children, Melissa Minigh (Scott) of Fairmont, WV, Karlie, Stephen Minigh and Antoinette Ellis-Casto of Shinnston, WV; his grandchildren, Claire and Anna Casto; and his brother John Ellis of Haywood, WV..
His love of music landed him a two-year stint occasionally playing his saxophone with Dr. Mike Hess's band, "Albuterol & The Inhalers" whose proceeds went to charity.
