He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph M Nelson and Clara B Kimble Nelson; and his siblings, Mary Jo Stoner and John Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Christina Ruth Royer Nelson; his cousins, Lynn Knapp and Barbara Moore of Elizabeth City, NC; his stepdaughter Christy Howell (Tony Kirk); and his stepgrandchildren, Casey May Smith, Chase Christopher Howell, Chance Von Howell and Caitlynne Rose Howell.
