He was predeceased by: his parents, Don H. Nutter and Mary Edith Sloan Nutter; his in-laws, Thurman and Marguerite Ford Long; his sister Margaret "Margy" Nutter Graham; and his brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard "Rick" Hess, James Kerwood and Donald "Don" Vredeveld.
He is survived by: his wife Fern Louise Long; his children, Charla Louise McNaboe (Dennis McNaboe) of Salem and Charles Christopher "Chris" Nutter (Staci Elise Garrett); his sisters, Charlene Nutter Hess of Bryan, OH and Mary Jane Nutter Vredeveld of Charleston, WV; his brother-in-law Alfred "Micky" Graham (Betty) of Daniels, WV.; his cousin J. Lowell McAfee; his close friend Jesse Scott; and his family Dr. Dana Bragg. He is also survived by three nieces and three nephews and to twelve great nieces and nephews.
