He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas N. Hammett and Lilly Mae Wells Hammett; and his brother Robert Edward Hammett. He is survived by: his wife Helen Hescht Hammett; his stepchildren, Mike Higgins (Jenny) and Christina Campbell (Steve); his stepgrandchildren, Aaron, Kaylee, Jenna, Jordan and Jocelynn; and his siblings, Mary Catherine Robinson, Patricia Ellen Goodwin, Margaret Anne Miller, George Wells Hammett and Samuel C. Hammett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
