He is survived by: his wife Lee Ann Dotson Rankin; his children, Joseph Mark Carpenter and Mary Katheryn Young (Mike); his stepchildren, Joseph Robert Rankin (Becky) and Robyn Lee Facemire (Mike); his grandchildren, Tara Beatrice Carpenter, Aura Cassidy Carpenter, Lucas Young, William Rankin, Kati Rankin, Ashley Rankin, Alyssa Facemire and Aden Facemire; and his brothers, Walter Webb Carpenter (Karen), Bryan Hamilton Carpenter (Darla) and John Edward Carpenter (Mary Ann). He is also survived by Many nieces and nephews.
