He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyburn Harless and Belva Brown Harless; and his siblings, George, Lyburn Jr., John, Fred Harless, Lois Whitenack, Marie Brogan, Lydia Ray Ludwig and Dorothy Fields.

He is survived by: his wife Deloris Miller Harless; his sons, Charles Odell Harless, II (Cheryl Ann) of Charleston and James Todd Harless (Cleta Mae) of St. Albans; his granddaughters, Belva Lynn Sanger (Adam) of Dunbar and Tara Beth Spradling (Craig) of South Charleston; his great grandchildren, Devin Difiore-Sanger, Olivia Paige Sanger, Vincent Alistair Spradling and Victor Alan Spradling; and his brother Jim Harless of Charleston.
