He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry G. Johnson and Vivian Crozier Johnson; and his brothers, Robert and Mike Johnson. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Carly Smith of Oak Ridge, NC, Courtney Horan of Stokesdale, NC, Megan Bottego of Asheville, NC., Travis Ross of New York City, Josh Johnson of Harrisburg, NC and Justin Johnson of Ronceverte, WV.. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
