He was predeceased by: his father James Gray McDowell. He is survived by: his mother Betty Jean Dean McDowell; his siblings, James David McDowell of Sweet Springs, WV and Deborah Melara; his nephew Shane Melara (Cherie); his great-nephew Caleb Morrison; and his great-nieces, Cadance and Samarah Melara.
