He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Ward Hayes, Sr. and Vera Hayes Legg of Asbury; and his grandchildren, Remington Chase Hayes and McKenna Paige. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Marie Hayes; his children, Stephanie Hayes Mullens (Jimmy), Shawn Nicholas Hayes (Tina) and Stacy Elizabeth Hayes (Stacy Johnson); his grandchildren, Colton Wykle of Montana and Caytron Paige Wykle; his sister Lea Yvonne Palmer (Pete); his caregivers, Crystal Delozier, Shannon Dunbar, Maggie Bostic, Katie Hughes, Carrie Bowman, Carrie Ralston, Amy Jackson and Stacey O'Dell; and also Vera Lee Hayes Legg.
