He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Earl and Willie Mae Smothers Hood; his wife Effie Louise Turner Hood; and his close friend Peggy Holliday. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Sandy Bucklen (Vernon) of Lewisburg, WV. He is also survived by several nieces, and nephews.
