He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Bernard Slaven and Mary Grove Slaven Geddings; and his sister Huberta S. Lightner. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Shrader Slaven; his son Scott Slaven of Virginia; his granddaughters, Taylor Slaven of Virginia and Kendall Ashby of Texas; and his siblings, Robert Slaven (Karen) of Ronceverte and Connie Hudson of Ronceverte. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
