He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edwin Childs, Sr. and Florence Eugene Childs (Bell); his wife Nancy E. Childs; and his son Joel A. Childs. He is survived by: his children, Mark D. Childs of Winchester, Neal E. Childs of Ranson, WV, Mona L. Childs of Romney and Beth A. Carter (Mark) of Springfield, VA; his grandchildren, Morgan D. Carter (Libby) of Tennessee, Ashley N. Carter of Springfield, VA, Matthew Z. Carter of Virginia and Lindsay Childs of Winchester; and his sisters, Nancy Turner of Stephens City, VA and Sharon Hough (Paul) of Strasburg, VA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
