He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake Vass and Pearl Pence Vass; his son James Lee "Jimbo" Vass; and his brothers, Chester Vass (Sylvia), Donald Vass (Opal) and Kenneth Vass (Carol).
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Stover Vass; his son Randy Vass (Cindy); his grandchildren, Randi Fuller and Derek Vass (Brittany); and his great grandchildren, Emma, Braxtyn, Roxy and Sawyer. He is also survived by husband who cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Due to the regulations associated with COVID-19 pandemic, and out of love and respect for extended family and friends, a graveside service for immediate family will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 13, 2020, at the Ellison Cemetery in Rock Camp, WV, with Robert "Bob" Boozer and Gerald McKinney officiating, and Jim Manley delivering the eulogy.
