He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Anna Robertson and Bill Vance; his brother James Dale Vance; and his nephews, Scotty Vance, Roger Vance and Michael Bailey.

He is survived by: his siblings, Coleen, Delmar Jarrell of Joe's Run, Roger, Debbie Vance of Millwood, Billy Vance of Quinland, David, Lesa Vance of Scott Depot, Linda, Mike Bailey of Ripley and Orville Vance of Ripley; and his uncle Charley Browder.
