He was predeceased by: his mother Patricia Mae Thornton Paxson; and his brothers, Mark Paxson and Alan Paxson. He is survived by: his father David E. Paxson of Pittsboro; his wife Mary Paxson; his children, Stephen Delbert Paxson II of Pliny and Patricia Ann Yates of Pliny; his stepchildren, Gary Higginbotham, Cindy Beckett and Joy Moody; and his brother Daniel Paxson of Pittsboro. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
