He was predeceased by: his parents, Kinsey VanDyne and Genevieve Mason VanDyne; his sister-in-law Sandy VanDyne; and his uncle Eugene Mason. He is survived by: his brothers, Pete VanDyne (Vicky) and Terry VanDyne; his nephew Jason VanDyne (Tamara); his great-nieces, Alexis and Jaylin VanDyne; and his aunt Mary Mason. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
