He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Oliver and Thelma Muriel Long Thompson; and his siblings, Phyliss, Gloria and Bob.

He is survived by: his sons, Ronald Thompson, Jr. of Parkersburg, WV and Jason Thompson of Vienna, WV; his grandchildren, Vinnie, Issac, Alex and Kristen; his great grandchild Lucas; and his close friend Lois Sutphin.
