He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert V. Staats and Carol Franklin Staats; his sister Deborah O'Dell; and his grandparents, Veldra, Ethel Staats, William and Hazel Franklin.
He is survived by: his siblings, Marsha Engle (Calvin) and Timothy Staats (Connie); his nieces, Amanda O'Dell, Leigh Ann Kerns (Jason) and Melissa France (Eric); and his nephew David Staats (Lyndsey).
