He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Stafford Koonce and Henrietta Lee Murphy Koonce; and his brothers-in-law, William Sturgis Everhart and Herbert Johnson Everhart. He is survived by: his son Howard Stafford Leigh Koonce of Summit Point; his niece Jennifer Everhart King; and his pet Sam.
