He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Carper, Sr. and Grace Elizabeth Glaize Carper; his former wife Ethel "Dottie" Greenwalt Carper; his son Terry Lee Carper (Amber) of Jefferson County, WV; and his brothers, Walter E. Carper and William F. "Slug" Carper, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Mary C. Carper; and his children, Richard Carper, Jr. (Barbara) of Jefferson County, WV, Susan Waters (Larry) of Jefferson County, WV, Steve Carper (Robin) of Jefferson County, WV, Rebecca Hitrik (Tim) of Jefferson County, WV and Charles Goode (Anne) of Jefferson County, WV. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
