She was predeceased by: her father Vernon Nelson; her sister Brenda Rakes; her niece Tiffeny Jones-Nelson; and her mother-in-law Wanda Rakes-Shelton. She is survived by: her mother Pearlie Maynard Nelson of Harts, WV; her husband Herbert "Jake" Rakes; her sons, Herbert "JJ" Rakes and Scotty Rakes; and her siblings, Bonnie Vest (Gary), Sue Sams, Rod Nelson and Randy Nelson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home, Inc. (220 Main St, Chapmanville, WV 25508). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
