He was predeceased by: his parents, Bob Rakes and Elizabeth Rakes (Tipton); his great grandchild Alexis Faith Rakes; and his parents-in-law, Edwin Bender and Lucinda Crum Bender.
He is survived by: his wife Shelva Rakes; his sons, Clayton (Janet), Brian, Mike, Mark and Eric (Lindsey); his brother Thurman; his grandchildren, CJ, Chris, Candace, Hannah, Addison and Jenna; and his great grandchildren, Dawson, Tucker, Brantley, Braxton and Myka. He is also survived by his beautiful wife of 60 years, children and grandchildren.
