He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Keister, Janet Adkins of Ashford, Lawrence Dolin of Foster and Betty Dolin of Ashford; and his cousin Bubby Myers.

He is survived by: his parents, Hub Adkins and Rochelle Adkins of Ashford; his wife Tammy Adkins; his parents-in-law, Robin and Bill Redmon of South Charleston; his sister Nichole Chambers (Frank) of Foster; his siblings-in-law, Teresa Harper (Aaron) of Twilight and William Redmon (Abby) of South Charleston; and his children, Keely Shaffer, David Adkins, Katelyn Adkins, Braden Morton, Nicki Adkins and Isaac Adkins. He is also survived by three nieces, one nephew, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends.
