He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles F. Byrd and Josie Thomas Byrd; his wife Betty Shrewsbury Byrd; his son Stephen Ted Byrd; and his siblings, Dewey Byrd, Bernard Byrd, Kyle Byrd, Charles Byrd Jr., Dennis Byrd, Jack Byrd, Lucille Tabor, Vada Brown, Elizabeth Reddish and Oden Godfrey.
He is survived by: his daughter Susan Byrd-Yurkiewicz of Princeton; and his grandchildren, Zachary Byrd (Kathy) of Silver Spring, MD and Nicholette Yurkiewicz of Louisville, KY..
