He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Thurmer and Ida Thurmer of Bluefield; his wife Janet; his brother Paul; his sister-in-law Mildred Thurmer; and his son-in-law Jeff Boyles.
He is survived by: his children, Ginny Boyles, Cheri Hedrick (Rusty), Duane Thurmer, Tony Thurmer (Marsha) and Rhonda Clark; and his nephew Gene Thurmer (Karen). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
