He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Elsworth Thompson and Mary Helen Moye Thompson; his siblings, Stephen Lane Thompson, Helen S. Thompson and Frances J. Thompson; his grandparents, Bart, Arta Walker Thompson, Londa Lloyd and Clara Lilly Moye; his stepsons, Bryan Keith Neal and Ricky Lynn Neal; his stepgranddaughter Jennifer Neal; and the mother of his child Carol Joan Dillon Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Maretta Alene Ragan Thompson of Princeton; his son Gregory Philip Thompson (Debra) of Colfax, NC; his stepson Kenneth Edward Neal (Pamela) of Charleston, WV; his daughter-in-law Karen Stanley (Kenny) of Green Valley; his grandchildren, Jamie, Eric, Adam, Derek, Sara, Stephanie and Brian Neal; and his great grandchildren, Emily, Taylor, Kylie, Isaac, Evan, Nathaniel, Brittany and Levi.
