She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Garland Philips and Mary Belle Philips Sellinger; her husband John Arnold Jacobsen, Sr.; and her brothers, Herman Philips and Herbert Philips.

She is survived by: her children, John Arnold Jacobsen, Jr. (Phyllis Watt) of Richmond, VA and Jennifer Jacobsen Luppold (William) of Princeton; her grandchildren, Natalie Christina Luppold of Charleston and Hunter Clark Luppold (Chelsea) of Woodbridge, VA; her great grandchildren, Talan Clark Luppold and Chase Hunter Luppold; and her sisters-in-law, Gloria Philips of Virginia Beach, VA and Marion Philips of Kirkwood, MO..

Due to her love of books, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Princeton Public Library Audiobook collection, 920 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV 24740.

“I just found out Marie had passed. I am so sorry. Marie is my first cousin. Jean Lowry Stewart, Chester Va. I lived with Marie's mother for a while. My parents William and Hazel Lowry from Hickory Va moved to Miami Florida. I stayed with Aunt Marie and graduated from Great Bridge High School.Of course they returned from Florida and moved to Richmond Va.”
