With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Garland Shumate of Princeton, West Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 29, 2024 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Larry Garland farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Larry Garland is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley A. Shumate and Elsie Lovern Shumate; his wife Shelby Jean Bailey Shumate; and his brother Donald "Donnie" Wayne Shumate. He is survived by: his daughter Deborah Denise Shumate of Princeton; his granddaughters, Sheryl Gray (Kevin), Kristin Mullins of Princeton and Sara Jernigan (Sam) of Myrtle Beach, SC; his great grandchildren, Connor, Casen, Gracelyn and Sammy; and his sister Dianna Alvis (Danny Ray) of Athens, WV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
