He was predeceased by: his parents, John Underwood and Sally Underwood; and his sister Judy Cecil. He is survived by: his wife Linda; and his siblings, Donald Underwood, Vernie Reed, Frances "Freckles" Cline and Martha Ford. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Bowers Hospice House of Beckley WV.
