He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Fortner and Myrtle Berry Fortner; and his wife Barbara Carol Hayton Fortner. He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Smith (Richard); his stepdaughter Renee Wellman (Brian); his grandchildren, Caitlin Smith-Trautwein, Kelsey Spears (Jeremy), Elizabeth Holbrook (Landon), Morgan Cochenour (Jeremy), Zach Wellman (Meredith), Elijah Wellman (Erin) and Sophie Johnson (Jonathan); and his neighbors, John, Beth Workman and Bill McCallister, Jr.. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Rollins Funeral Home (1822 Chestnut St, Kenova, WV 25530). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
