He is survived by: his parent Reta Kay Byer Wheeler (Graham) of Point Pleasant; his daughters, Gretchen Byer and Lindsey Byer (Kenny Putney); his grandchildren, Landon Hawk, Kailynn, Trycen and Kendal Putney; his sisters, Teresa A. Byer and Pamela D. Pickens; his half-sister Leann Crisenberry (Bobby); his brothers, Roger Shane Byer (Dionne) and John R. Byer (Stephanie); his child Jan Byer (Harbrecht); and his close friend Renee Wickline. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
