He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence McKinney and Brookie Lusk McKinney; his son Lonnie Gale McKinney Jr. (Junior); and his brothers, Darrell McKinney and Gilmer McKinney.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra McKinney; his children, Wanda Gail Bishop (Mike), Kimmy Sue Mathis, Sabrina Lynn Musick (Carl), Harry Ropp and Jacob McKinney; his grandchildren, Hailey, Dionne, Bradley, Katelyn, Colby, Gabe, Alexis and Brandon; his great grandchildren, Lucas, Jack, Aly and Baby McKinney; and his siblings, Benny McKinney, Ronnie McKinney and Ardyth Brown. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
