He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherwood Gainer and Freda Gainer (Wright); his close friend Ruth Jean Poling; and his siblings, Barbara Poling, David Gainer and Bill Gainer.
He is survived by: his stepson Allan "Dale" Poling (Kristal) of Kalamazoo; and his siblings, Roger Gainer (Sandra) of Grafton and Loretta 'Sue" Foster (Bob) of New Port Richey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
