Matt Zirkle Obituary
Donald Matthew "Matt" Zirkle, a resident of Philippi, passed from this life on Saturday, April 23, 2022, surrounded by his family, in the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, WV., following a brief illness. He was 50 years old. He was born into this life on September 22, 1971, in Buckhannon, WV., a son to Sue Lantz, of Philippi and the late Linwood Donald Zirkle. Also surviving are three children; Haiden Zirkle, twin children, Kaleb Zirkle, and Kaitlyn Zirkle-Taylor, both of Moorefield, WV; one brother, Rockie Lantz, Belington, WV; one sister, Melissa Zirkle, Philippi, WV; four grandchildren, Payton Zirkle, William Zirkle, Jessie Zirkle, and David Lee Taylor III; several nieces and nephews; a host of many friends in which the family wants to thank for being there for Matt in some of the good and hard times that he faced in this life.
He was preceded in death by, Melissa's infant twin sister, Donna Hope Zirkle, and sister, Christina Lantz; maternal grandparents, William, and Hazel (Everson) Lantz; paternal grandparents, Elmer, and Nellie (Booth) Zirkle. Mr. Zirkle graduated from Philip Barbour High School; he was a Protestant by faith. Matt had many occupations throughout his short life which include, construction, a mechanic, laborer, driving a log truck, and a handyman. He worked for Sugarcreek Salvage for several years. Matt loved riding motorcycles and recently he rode his bicycle thru the town, and streets of Belington.
He wasn't afraid of work, from time to time you would find him helping his neighbors. Matt donated his organs to help other people live or to enhance their lives through the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE). Mr. Zirkle will be missed by all those that knew and loved him. Mr. Zirkle's wishes for cremation will be honored and a celebration of his life will be on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 1 pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. David "Cowboy "Brown as the presider. Family and Friends can gather from 11 am until 1 pm.
