Linda Janette Coffman Obituary
Linda Janette "Jan" Coffman, age 63, a resident of the Tacy community, Philippi, WV went home in Heaven to join her mother, Mary Edith Coffman, and her grandmother Myrtle Stemple whom she dearly loved. Jan went to be with her loved ones on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh PA. She was waiting for a liver transplant.
She was born in Fairmont WV, on April 2, 1959, a daughter of the late Robert Coffman, and Mary Edith (Stemple) Coffman.
Jan leaves behind, a sister; Samantha Hall, and companion Anthony "Andy" Smith; a niece; Phoebe Hall, and companion Jonathan Davis; two great nieces; Kiara "Kiki" Anderson-Hall, and Jessica "Trouble" Hayes; an uncle; Aubrey Hartman Stemple, and wife Leona from Montgomery, Alabama; several cousins, and many friends.
Ms. Coffman attended the schools of Barbour County and was a 1977 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. She graduated from Alderson Broaddus College with a degree in education, later she received her master's degree in education from WVU, she taught many children throughout the years at Kasson Elementary School from which she had just retired. Jan was a very active volunteer in our community one of her favorite activities was Barbour County 4-H programs, and achieved the status of 4-H Allstars, she was the leader of the Tacy Stickers 4-H club. The club that her grandmother Myrtle Stemple, who helped raise her and Sam, started ninety-nine years ago. She had hoped to celebrate the 100th anniversary. Jan didn't hesitate to donate and volunteer for cancer programs; she was very supportive in The Relay for Life. She was the treasurer of the Kasson PTO association. Jan was a Methodist by faith, she was very active member of the Tacy Cross Roads United Methodist Church, was a member of the Bell Choir at Crim United Methodist Church, was also a member of the Blue and Gray Choir. In her free time she loved to travel, listen to oldies rock n roll, and some country music. Jan poured her heart into our community all her life and she is going to be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave., Philippi on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 6 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 9 am until noon. A funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Cindy Morgan Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Tacy Cross Roads Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations maybe sent to Tacy Stickers 4-H club c/o Dyanna Auvil 257 Reger Road Philippi, WV 26416.
