Junior Runner Obituary
Junior Runner, age 55, a resident of Philippi, and formally of Belington, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Emergency Department of Broaddus Hospital. His passing was very sudden and unexpected.
He was born on November 12, 1969, in Philippi a son to Mary Louise (Shaffer) of Moorefield, WV., and the late Doyne R. Runner Sr.
Junior leaves behind a son; Wolfgang Runner, his former companion, Emily Metheney, grandchildren; Braelynn and Brayden Runner, a brother Arthur "Artie" Daughtery of Elkins, sisters; Lisha Haller of Moorefield, Tracey Summers of French Creek, Suzanna Runner of Petersburg, and Donna Runner of OH., his friends he considered as his brothers, Mike "Rosie" Thorne, and Jamie Morris, several nieces and nephews.
Besides his father he was preceded in death by a brother; Dallas Runner, and a sister; Mary Beth Hamby.
Mr. Runner attended the schools of Barbour County he would have graduated with the class of 1987 however he had to excuse his self from school due to the unexpected death of his father which led him into driving semi-trucks to help his family with the expenses of home. He lastly worked for BB and T Crusher hauling salvaged cars all over North America. His love for the open road mirrored his zest for life, as he embraced each day with enthusiasm and a positive outlook. He touched many lives with his kindness and generous spirit. Juniors' warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of many, and his stories will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. As we remember him, we also take comfort in the community he left behind—a testament to the love and joy he brought to others. Junior became disabled here recently and he got to enjoy his life with his son and grandchildren whether it was fishing, riding his motorcycle, working on trucks and cars was his life and he enjoyed hanging out with his friends.
Family and friends may gather at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave., Philippi on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 6pm until 7:30pm, the funeral hour, with Pastor Joe Palmer officiating. In honoring Juniors wishes his remains will be cremated. The family has asked to offset the cost of the funeral expenses that donations will be accepted here online or to the funeral home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 PM. Pastor Joe Palmer will officiate, and cremation will follow.
