Irene P. Thompson Obituary
Irene P. Thompson, age 87, a resident of Mansfield Place formally of Philippi, passed away from this life on Thursday, November 25, 2021, in Mansfield Place, following an extended illness. She was born on October 17, 1934, in Simpson, WV, a daughter of the late Willie Haller and Mary (Bays) Haller. On December 26, 1958, she was united in marriage to Alfred Thompson who preceded her in death on June 19, 1995.
Irene is survived by a son, Jeff Thompson, three daughters, Kim Mauzy and husband Leon, Beverly Nutter and husband Carl, and Cindy Poling and husband Mark, two grandchildren, Ashley Woodarek and husband Dustin, and Josh Poling, two great grandchildren, Ava and Hunter Woodarek, one brother, Donnie Haller, a sister, Cathleen Swick, several nephews and nieces. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Haller, and two sisters, Betty Mullenax and Pauline Swick. Irene worked in the Dietary Department at the Broaddus Hospital for several years.
She loved to cook for her family and friends always made sure her guest never went away hungry. Mrs. Thompson also had a love for sewing and crocheting. Irene loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Family and friends will be received at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave., Philippi on Sunday November 28, 2021, from 4 pm until 8 pm and on Monday November 29, 2021, from 8 am until 11 am. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am with Pastor Howard Swick officiating and interment will follow at the Mt. Hebron Cemetery near Carrolton.
