Bill Jones Obituary
William Eugene "Bill" Jones, age 76 a former resident of Philippi, WV., and a resident of the Rosewood Center in Grafton passed away from this life on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in the center while under the care of West Virginia Choice, he had been in declining health for quite some time.
He was born on April 21, 1948, in Clarksburg, WV, a son to the late William Earl Jones, and Loudenna Louise (Daughtery) Moore, and the late Howard Gail Moore, his stepfather.
Bill was twice married, first to Deshilla Rose Harris, and second marriage to the "Love of his life" of twenty-eight years Tina Marcella Haddix who survives.
Bill leaves behind his only sibling; Eva Joyce (Jones) Bokey, and husband Mike of Philippi, step son; Jordan Heston and, two step grandsons; Dezmond, and Gunnar Heston whom he talked about all the time, dearly loved mother in law; Norma Haddix, who always made him special cakes, several nieces, nephews, and cousins he loved dearly, many brother in laws, and sisters in law that he thought a lot of, and his special little dog, Precious, a special friend of sixty- six years; Roger Anglin.
Besides his parents and stepfather, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents; Robert and Nellie Jones, maternal grandparents; Corbett Vain Daughtery, Mildred "Midge" (Foster) Thompson, Ogle "Cub" Thompson, several aunts and uncles, including his special uncle who Bill thought of as a brother; Arley "Butch" Daughtery. Mr. Jones attended the schools of Barbour County including Spawlick. Volga, Philippi High School, and Philip Barbour High. Bill entered in the United States Army on January 18, 1968, and served in Germany he retuned on December 29, 1969. He later entered in the United States Reserve at the Grafton Detachment. As an MP, and later the Clarksburg Detachment in the engineering company, and teaching demolition. Bill was in many countries during his service years including Spain, Italy, Germany, Guam, and Korea, some was for training purposes. He later retired as Sergeant E-6 with twenty plus years. Bill worked for Benson's Trucking, Griffith Mobile Home Sales, AB College as a maintenance man, and several HVAC Companies in Clarksburg until his retirement in 2014.
In honoring Bill's wishes his remains has been cremated. Family and friends may gather for a graveside service at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton at 1 pm on Friday, November 8, 2024, with Evangelist Ezik S. Norris officiating. Inurnment will follow. Full military rites will be conducted by the United States Army and local American Legions. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Animal Friends of Barbour County, 320 Valley Bend Road, Belington, WV 26250 in honor of Bill. The Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave. Philippi is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
