He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus G. Via and Virginia Lucille Brown Via; and his siblings, Sidney, Charles, Henry, Jackson "Jack", Nathan, Richard Via, Jennie Sadler and Virginia Via.

He is survived by: his sister Florence E. Via Dolbow of Ballard, WV. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
