Vance W. Bensenhaver Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vance W. Bensenhaver of Petersburg, West Virginia, born in Rig, West Virginia, who passed away on August 31, 2024 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Vance William Bensenhaver and Goldie Elizabeth Bensenhaver (Riggleman); his former wife Barbara Bensenhaver (Ours); his daughter Christina Bensenhaver Cook; and his half-sister Ila Louise "Petey" Bensenhaver Kemp.
He is survived by: his wife Shelby J. Ratcliff Bensenhaver (Mongold); his son W. Craig Bensenhaver of Petersburg, WV; his grandchildren, Jamie Cook, Jessica Moreno Salinas (Alex) and Sterling Bensenhaver; his great grandchildren, Alexis Cook, Christopher Cook, Ana Hernandez, Jayden Cook, Alex Moreno Salinas and Layla Moreno Salinas; his great great grandchild Fia Cook; his stepchildren, Greg Ratcliff of Nottingham, MD, Sherry Zamudio and Pam Amato of Prescott, AR; and his brother John C. Bensenhaver (Margaret) of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by nine step grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren.
According to Sonny's wishes, his body was donated to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry in Morgantown, WV.
