We bid farewell to Mernie D. VanMeter of Petersburg, West Virginia, born in Cabins, West Virginia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 1, 2024 at the age of 91. Mernie touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dale Bennett and Elva Bennett (Turner); her husband Clinton E. VanMeter; her son Ralph VanMeter; her close friend Jesse W. Kuykendall; her brothers, Otis Bennett, Austin Bennett and David "Bull" Bennett; and her son-in-law Derwin "Bim" Kimble.
She is survived by: her daughters, Mernie "Liz" Kimble of Petersburg, WV and Barbara VanMeter of Petersburg, WV; her nieces, Gladys Hedrick and Jenny Dayton; her nephew Jim Bennett; and her caregiver Patsy Yokum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home (11 N Main St, Petersburg, WV 26847). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
