She was predeceased by: her parents, John William Alt and Ottie Catherine Alt (Wilfong); her husband Henry C. VanMeter Jr.; her children, Brenda J. VanMeter and Gerald E. VanMeter; her sister Louise Westfall; her half-sister Martha Blizzard; her brother Ernest Alt; and her half-brother John William Alt III.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Crites (Robert) of Petersburg, WV and Virginia "Jenny" Dayton (Tim) of Maysville, WV; her daughter-in-law Shirley R. VanMeter of Petersburg, WV; and her sons, Ronnie L. VanMeter (Sharon B.) of Moorefield, WV, Henry Charles VanMeter of Lahmansville, WV and Bobby W. VanMeter of Petersburg, WV. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, eight step grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home (11 N Main St, Petersburg, WV 26847). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
