He was predeceased by: his parents, William Orlando and Mary Henderson Sherman (Runions); his stepdaughter Crystal Faith VanMeter; and his brothers, Howard Randall, William Richard, Donald Wayne and Frederick Allen "Freddie" Sherman.
He is survived by: his wife Vicky Sherman (Jarrels); his stepchildren, Brittanie S. Stewart-Wilson of Florida, Tiffany N. C. Stewart of Petersburg, WV and Aaron I. VanMeter of Upper Tract, WV; his sister Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Haynes (Mike) of Colfax, LA; and his stepdaughters, Linda Hedrick (Scott), Donna Wimer (Gary), Mary Ann Evans and Tammy Mathis. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
