He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Tyree and Alice Williams Tyree; and his brother Lewis Kent Tyree. He is survived by: his wife Joann; his children, David Scott Tyree and Amy Tyree Thomas (Curt) of Beckley; his grandchildren, Connor Tyree, Shawna Tyree Davee (Charlie), Hampton Thomas and Sophie Thomas; his nephews, Shane Tyree, Timmy Williams and Eric Williams; and his niece Tammy Williams Oliver.
